Sustainability And Circular Economy, The Same? Mine Organics
Sustainability is “the balanced integration of economic performance, social inclusiveness, and environmental resilience, to the benefit of current and future generations,” according to Geissdoerfer et al. (2017).
A circular economy is defined as “a regenerative system in which resource input and waste, emission, and energy leakage are minimized by slowing, closing, and narrowing material and energy loops. This can be achieved through long-lasting design, maintenance, repair, reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishing, and recycling.”
Hence, a circular economy does not necessarily mean sustainability. However, sustainability does include a circular economy, but it is not limited to that and goes beyond just economic activities.
So, where does Mine Organics stand?
Mine Organics is a sustainable brand inspired by the ideas of the circular economy, but we are not only limited to that, we strive for social inclusion with our plans of aiding the vulnerable communities, which is an important aspect of our philosophy.
For instance, our “My Addiction” Foaming Scrub Powder is made of used coffee grounds which is a perfect example of a circular economy. The coffee grounds are usually considered a waste: however, we at Mine Organics believe that is a valuable asset. Thus we reuse them by upcycling and bringing them back to the market: this cycle decreases the need for new coffee powder, less coffee consumption by the skincare sector. In addition it helps the environment recover with decreasing consumption of raw materials within the industry.

How this makes Mine Organics sustainable?
- The decreasing demand for coffee in the skincare industry leads to the decline of raw materials derived from nature, which in its turn leads to better environment
